Problem
A clinic needs to connect the planned appointment with the consultation and the record that follows it. When those pieces live separately, staff and doctors have to reconstruct the context.
The useful scope is the visit workflow: how the patient arrives in the schedule, how the doctor records the consultation, and how the prescription remains available as a record.
What we built
- Patient information and medical profiles for the doctor’s practice.
- Appointments, outpatient visits, follow-ups, updates, and reminders.
- Consultation workflows and electronic prescriptions that patients can access.
- Video consultations, patient chat, and secure document sharing.
- Health records covering vitals, investigations, and medical reports, with record entry and graphical views.
- Patient-entered health updates and report uploads, with updates available to the connected doctor.
- Prepaid appointments and payments for visits or other services.
How it runs
- Find the patient’s profile and the health information relevant to the visit.
- Arrange the appointment or follow-up, with the applicable reminders and prepayment workflow.
- Let the patient add health updates or upload reports for the doctor to review.
- Conduct the consultation in the clinic or through a video visit; use chat and document sharing where needed.
- Record the consultation and write the electronic prescription.
- Give the patient access to the prescription and maintain the associated health records.
- Continue the follow-up workflow with updated records and reminders.
Who uses it
- Doctors review patient profiles and records, conduct consultations, write prescriptions, and follow up with patients.
- Patients contribute health updates and reports, join video consultations, exchange messages, and access prescriptions.
- Clinic staff coordinate appointments, outpatient visits, reminders, and visit-payment workflows within their assigned responsibilities.
Technology and integrations
Choose the application architecture around the devices doctors and patients use, record access, and video and messaging services. Explore our development technologies when planning the application.
Choose visits or wider hospital operations
Start here when the first useful release connects appointments, consultations, prescriptions, and follow-ups for a doctor’s practice. The clinic decision owner should define scheduling, record authorship, corrections, and who may see patient-entered updates. Agree on a sample visit from booking through follow-up, including a canceled appointment and a corrected record.
If the priority is inpatient stays, departmental handoffs, operating theater coordination, radiology, or pathology operations, start with clinic and hospital operations. A visit workflow alone does not cover those responsibilities. If your current system already handles the visit, assess a configuration or bounded integration before replacing it.
The doctor remains responsible for clinical decisions. Video, payments, reminders, and external record connections each need permitted access, an operating owner, and acceptance checks. Do not treat the presence of a feature as an agreement on clinical policy or external integrations.
Engagement fit
Product engineering fits a defined application or integration outcome. Agree on the first useful release, acceptance criteria, and who will operate it.
Scope this work with product engineeringWhat to agree before building
- Define appointment rules, doctor availability, patient access, and the first-release devices.
- Agree on prescription fields, authorship, corrections, patient-entered record handling, consent, and retention with the clinic.
- Define video and chat access, document-sharing permissions, reminder channels, and support responsibilities.
- Agree on payment providers, prepaid appointment rules, cancellations, and refunds. External pharmacy, laboratory, and billing integrations need their own scope.
Questions before we start
Can patients contribute their own health records?
The doctor and patient application supports patient-entered health updates and uploaded medical reports, with updates available to the connected doctor. Agree on how entries are reviewed, corrected, and distinguished from clinician-authored records.
Does the workflow include video consultations and chat?
The doctor and patient application includes video consultations, patient chat, and secure document sharing. Access permissions, consent, retention, and operational support still need to be defined for each implementation.
Can the clinic manage follow-ups and reminders?
The doctor and patient application includes appointment and outpatient workflows with follow-ups, updates, and reminders. Define timing, delivery channels, and responsibility for missed or changed appointments during scoping.
Can appointments be prepaid?
The appointment application supports prepaid appointments and payments for services. Payment-provider selection, cancellations, refunds, and reconciliation rules must be agreed for a similar implementation.
Does an e-prescription automatically reach a pharmacy?
The e-prescription workflow creates an electronic prescription that the patient can access; it does not automatically send it to a pharmacy. Sending it to a pharmacy requires a separate integration. The doctor chooses the treatment.
Can we begin without the full hospital operations scope?
The doctor and patient application can start with the visit workflow, including the records and communication functions you need. Broader inpatient and departmental operations can be scoped separately.

Bring a synthetic visit sequence, scheduling and correction rules, target devices, and the existing systems the clinic needs connected. Include the clinic decision owner and the person responsible for patient-record access and release acceptance.
